TECH

Just a few years ago the idea of a lightweight fatbike rim may have seemed like an oxymoron, but at just 500g, the 650mm width rim proves that there is no need for your fatbike wheels to be heavy. This is the perfect option for year round fatbike riding and racing. While it doesn’t offer quite as much float in deep snow or sand as the 85mm width, the 60mm inner width can still handles up to 4.8″ tires.

Steve : Here are a few pics of my freshly build RSNOW03 wheelset. I laced those to a Hope Fatsno 135mm front hub and a DT Swiss 350 170mm rear hub. Iaced them with Sapim spokes (Laser front right and rear left, D-light front left and Race rear right) and rainbow coloured Aluminium nipples. I use the wheelset with 4" tires as a year round do-it-all trail ride option, and I am really pleased with how this one came out. Really nice, well rolling and relatively light wheelset. Setting them up tubeless with 45Nrth tires worked out like a breeze. It is reasonably quick on packed underground and even tarmac, incredibly stiff yet compliant, and on top the tires have a nice rounded of profile more suitable to general trail riding. It might be limited in deep and ungroomed snow, but we tend to have more mud and slush than nice powdery stuff over here in Vienna (Austria).

Hello- I am interested in a set of Drift 65mm x 26" rims. Can these be purchased drilled with all 32 spoke holes offset or 64 dual row spoke holes as in the past? Thanks, David

LightBicycle 2020/12/05

Hi David, Yes, we can drill 32H or 64H for the 65mm fat rim 26er for you if you like. Which would it be? Thanks, Lightbicycle

are these compatible with a rohloff hub and a bafang bbshd ebike build .

LightBicycle 2019/02/26

Hi Mark, Our fat bike rims can be manufactured customized if you use them for E-bike. Is it your bike Electric bicycle mid-drive motor or hub motor? It will be great if we can get your bike link or bike specs. We like to know the bike total weight if possible. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Looking to convert your RSNOW03 rims to tubeless. What size rim strip would you recommend? Do you recommend any specific manufactures?

LightBicycle 2018/10/22

Hi Paul, Usually, to make sure the rim strip would work well for the tubeless fat bike rim, we would recommend using a rim stripe that 1~2mm narrower than the rim width itself. Thanks, Lightbicycle

LightBicycle 2018/01/02

Hello Christian, Thanks for your inquiry. Would you please share us some hub details and let us know the hub weight? Then we will check if our rim is strong enough to work with your hub. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Chris 2016/09/16

Hello. I currently run 80mm aluminum wheels with 4" tires on my Salted Bikes Sandfly fat bike. Two questions: 1.) What range of tire widths can I run on your 65mm rims? 2.) Are you considering a 27.5 rim option? Thanks!

Light-Bicycle 2016/09/18

Hello Chris, Sorry for the late reply. Because we were on the vacation in last 3 days. For our 26er fat bike rim, the recommend tires width are 4.0''-4.8'' tires. Recently, we do open the new rim mold of 650B fat bike rim. Rim profile attached for reference. Thanks, Light-bicycle

Kirby 2015/07/29

Can you send me the 3K and 12K glossy finish rim pictures for evaluate the quality! Also, what is the difference between this two finishing? Best regards Kirby

Light-Bicycle 2015/07/30

Hello Kirby, Thanks for your inquiry. Please find attached pictures of the rim weave. For 3k/12k/UD, it is the outer carbon fiber layer to make the carbon fiber with different outlook, and all the inside carbon fiber are the same. So, the rim strength & weight is almost the same. For matte and glossy, it is only the painting different. Glossy looks shinny, a bit thicker painting than matte painting. But matte looks more popular. 3k matte &UD matte are more popular. Which do you prefer? RSNOW03 (65mm wide 26er fat bike rim): 480 /-30g, USD243/pcs Please find attached rim profile. For drilling, do you like centered drilling, offset drilling or dual spoke hole pattern? Please find attached profiles. Thanks, Light-bicycle

Sven 2015/06/01

You can also create a full fat bike wheel?? And what is the more price than.?

Light-Bicycle 2015/06/02

Hello Sven, Thanks for your inquiry. Please find the attached cross-section drawing of the 65mm wide 26er hookless rim. For the rims, do you prefer UD, 3k or 12k? Matte or glossy? 32H? Which spoke drilling do you prefer? Offset, dual or centered drilling? Please find the attached pictures. http://www.flickr.com/photos/light-bicycle/sets/72157631432948364/detail/ There are Hope Fatsno fat bike hubs here. What axle size do you prefer for the hubs? For the spokes, they are black bladed Pillar Aero PSR X-TRA 1420, black round DT competition and black sapim cx-ray spoke. The prices are the same for the Pillar and DT spoke. The Sapim spoke will be more expensive. Thanks, Light-bicycle
