TECH

Light enough for racing, the AM724 is tough enough to handle the demands of everyday all-mountain riding. Whether you are running race tires or mounting up some beefier trail treads, the 24mm inner width provides a versatile platform to build up a lightweight wheelset.

Using our modern hookless U-Shaped profile, bead seat bumps, and tubeless ready profile, the AM724 is designed to exceed the demands of today's hard charing trail and all-mountain riders, without added weight. The additional stiffness of carbon fibre over your alloy rims will have you railing turns and blasting through rough terrain with new-found confidence.

Bernd : I was looking for a carbon wheelset for my 2014 Santa Cruz Nomad that I could build myself and found Lightbicycle through Ali Clarkson's wheel building instruction video. Getting in contact with Lightbicycle was easy and with their recommendation, I chose the AM724 (RM650BC19) rim with DT comp spokes (they were also helping me to figure out the right spoke length for the existing hubs that I planned to reuse). After ordering I was able to see the progress of the rim manufacturing process every step of the way, which I think is a very nice feature. Rims arrived and building the wheels was a breeze! The Maxxis tires went on the rim with a regular floor pump, which was a first for me - in the past I always had to use air boosts to seat my tubeless tires. I have ridden the wheels for about 300 miles by now and am really happy with their performance and stability - acceleration and stiffness are very good for the riding that I am doing.

Hi, I'm planning to build a wheelset for a gravel bike with 650b rims, Do you have a rim with 24-25 mm width around this weight (less then 400 gr) that can accept a higher pressure ( 50 psi)?thanks Enrico

LightBicycle 2019/11/30

Hi Enrico, Yes, we do have new 650b gravel bike rims that with 24mm inner / 30mm outer width, 35mm depth, you can see the rim profile from the attachment. The rim is with hook bead so it can take much higher tire pressure (under 130psi). Will this rim be the one that you are looking for? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Marc 2020/03/29

Which model gravel rim is that? I do not see any 650b matching that description but it is exactly what i am looking for!

LightBicycle 2020/03/30

Hi Marc, The 650b rim that mentioned in the comment area is the model 650B gravel (24mm internal/30mm outer width, 35mm depth). Will expecting available online soon considering many audiences fond of this asymmetrical 650b gravel rim already. We can work on invoice for you if you are ready to order. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Is this rim available in a hooked profile? Or is there another model that is 650b, hooked profile, and similar depth (not width) of 24 mm?

LightBicycle 2020/01/22

Hi Adam, 1. What kind of riding you plan to do with AM724 (24mm internal/30mm outer width, 24mm depth) 650B gravel? The design intention for the rim is Cross Country and All-Mountain riding. Normally, you should ride under 40psi under that condition. So the hookless design is good enough to keep the tire well seated. 2. We do have a 650b gravel rim that is with a close rim profile to AM724 and with a hooked bead. The AR36-650B-disc is with 22.4mm internal / 29mm outer width and 36mm depth. Will the rim depth ok with you? Some people also use it as a cross country rim. 3. You can learn more about the gravel rim AR36-650B-disc on this page. Thanks, Lightbicycle

I'm concerned with tires fitting correctly. Can you tell me how tall the sidewalls are from the bead seat to the top? Will the rim work for high pressure road plus?

LightBicycle 2017/10/24

Hi Jim, For AM724 rim, it is 5.5mm from the top of the rim to the bead seat. We recommend to use less than 40psi on AM724 rims. There will be a risk to have tire blow out problem if it is with higher tire pressure. We recommend our RG722 rim for you(as attached). It's 650b rim and hook design. Hook rim can run as much as 120 psi tire pressure. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Is the weight limit per wheel or for both? I assume bike rider bags

LightBicycle 2017/04/24

Hello Andrew, Thanks for your inquiry. The weight limit is for a complete wheelset. But it is just an approximate estimation. Sorry, what do you mean of “I assume bike rider bags”? The AM724 is design for gentle all mountain riding. Or we have a wider and stronger wheel 34mm width. May I know your weight? What is your riding terrain normally? Do you ride aggressively? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Can I put a 2.5 wide tire on this rim?

Light-Bicycle 2016/08/22

Hello Andrew, Thanks for your inquiry. The recommended tire width for AM724 are 2.0''-2.4''. In theory, the rim is able to work with 2.5'' tire also. May I know what your riding terrain is normally? Do you ride aggressively? What is your weight? Then we will double check which rim is more suitable for you and quote accordingly. Because we have some wider rims worked with 2.5’’ tire well. Thanks, Light-bicycle

Andrew 2016/08/22

I assume that when you say asymetric you mean that the spoke holes are offset from center. If so how many mm are the holes offset?

Light-Bicycle 2016/05/20

Hello Dennis, Thanks for your inquiry. The asymmetrical rims are with 2.6mm offset. Rim profile attached is for your reference. Thanks, Light-bicycle

I just purchased the AM724 (650B). Going to build them up with Industry 9 torch hubs. Can you tell me the right spoke length? Thanks! Dave

Light-Bicycle 2016/03/21

Hello Dave, Thanks for your support. For spoke length, it also depends on the spoke pattern you use. The AM724 rim ERD is 553mm. You can use below link & attached picture to get correct spoke length. http://www.prowheelbuilder.com/spokelengthcalculator/ You have to fill in rim ERD 553mm, choose the I9 hubs and spoke pattern. Then you can get correct spoke length. Or you can calculate the spoke length once getting the rims, to ensure the correct length you order. Thanks, Lightbicycle
