If you plan to make a 650b (27.5") fat bike rim I'd suggest making it 100 mm wide rather than 80 mm. Wider seems to be the trend. Note the HED B.F.D 26x100 mm rims. I have a Trek Farley 9.8 w/ 27.5x80 rims. I'd be very interested in going 100 mm wide to give the tire more volume. Please email me if a 650b x 100 mm becomes available.

We will discuss with our engineers and will let you know once we have a plan to make the 80mm wide 650B rims. If you need rims urgently, we’d like to recommend the 650 plus rim which is lighter and more nimble than a fat bike. Also, it is more capable in sand or snow, and perfectly suited to 2.8-3.3" tires.
